Beware of 100 Thousand Trees in Jakarta Prone to Fall

Jakarta residents are warned to be more vigilant, especially when heavy rain and strong winds pour their residential. This is because, as many as 20-100 thousand trees that spread in five urban cities are vulnerable to fall or aged over 10 years. Most of them are located in South and East Jakarta.

Head of Community Participation Section for Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department, Heru Bambang Ernanto stated his side continues to survey trees in Jakarta, especially aged over 10 years. "From our data, the amount of trees prone to fall is 100 thousand," he recorded, Thursday (11/27).

1,400 Trees in East Jakarta will Be Pruned

At this time, the amount of trees in the capital is 1 million. But 300 out of them are aged over 10 years. Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Department will keep adding its amount in future. This is because the existence of green open space (RTH) has not reached 10 percent of the total area.
